A few years ago my wife and I were looking for a kitten to call our own. We went in to a Pet Smart chain store because we heard they had donated a section of the store to the Humane Society and we thought we’d pick up a cat there. We looked over the kittens in the cages and chose one. The Humane Society lady gave us a form to fill out, my wife and I didn’t think much about it till we started reading the form.
I’ve never ran up against a Communist organization before but I could not believe what the Human Society form stated. We could not let the cat outside, ever. We had to agree to home inspection at any time. We had to agree to take the cat to the vet regularly. If we violated the rule the cat would be removed from our home and we wouldn’t be able to get another cat from the Humane Society.
I told the lady of the Humane Society that we could easily find a kitten, there were hundreds of kittens looking for a home. We thought we’d help out an organization we thought was dedicated to animal welfare. Instead what we found was a Communist top down police state. I told the lady that according to the form they wanted me to sign that the cat was not ours but rather we were just agreeing to feed, house and care for their cat.
We left the store and a few weeks later someone from my wife’s work announced her cat’s kittens were now old enough to be given to cat loving families. Our cat Cali is now six years old and she is doing well.
Cali runs around the house, we let her outside and when she shows signs of sickness we take her to the Vet. Every now and then I think back to the day my wife and I had a close encounter with a truly Communist Organization, the Humane Society and why anyone in a sovereign state of mind would agree to such totalitarian terms when animals are readily available. I guess the Communist Humane Society threat to either adopt out the animals or kill them is a serious threat to consider for animals lovers. We certainly were willing to take a pet from this organization until we found we were expected to give them our sovereignty in the process.
Beware the Humane Society, in the name of love they have chosen a path that no sovereign should be expected to agree. There must be a better way to ensure animals find a loving home without using police state tactics.
Cat lovers at heart,
