Young Deer Fawn in Our Backyard

See on Scoop.itGarden Spot

I told my wife Mary there was a fawn in our backyard when we got to the back window it appeared to have left. We have some growth in the yard and Mary went out back to look for the fawn and got ten feet from it. We don’t know where the mother deer was at. The fawn after about ten minutes looked like it was gonna walk away but walked a few paces and returned. After a few more minutes Mary decided to come back inside. It’s surprising that the mother deer couldn’t be located however it surely wasn’t far off. We had a thunderstorm last night that dumped a lot of rain on the property. The lawn was about to die and my cool weather plantings were in dire need. It’s been so hot and humid with little rain in our neighborhood. We have lots of trees on the property and going around the outer perimeter so our backyard looks and feels like an open space in a wooded area. It’s nice to see wildlife every now and then. The fawn in this online photo is about the same size as the one in our backyard. Cute.
