Editorial: Thw Benefits of Having Health Insurance

Via Scoop.itSecular Curated News & Views
Thursday, January 26, 2001 I started feeling really sick about 7:00pm. Doctor’s office was closed so did I need to suffer the whole night through? Of course not. I have Health Insurance so I went out to the emergency room at the local hospital. After a couple hours it was determined I had bronchus.   Even though I’m still feeling bad I’m feeling better because I had access to a Doctor who prescribed medication to get me feeling better. I don’t often use the emergency room but it’s nice to know that if I’m feeling extremely sick, it’s an option. This is why as a Secular Egalitarian Antitheist Liberal I vote for Single Payer Health Care. No one should suffer needlessly in pain because they don’t have health insurance.   We need to let our elected representatives know we support single payer health care. Lobby every day for the causes you believe in. Be assured the Health Insurance Corporations are talking to your elected representatives everyday even if we aren’t. So let’s be busy making our voices heard each and every day.   Get Active, Be Heard ~plasmaborne4rel

The GOP Nomination Is Now A Horror Movie: Newt Gingrich Just Refuses To Die

Via Scoop.itSecular Curated News & Views

Here’s what is going to happen in short order:
1) Gingrich is moving very quickly to soak up all the anti-Romney money and energy. He may begin leading national polls again this week.
2) Romney will return to attacks on Gingrich’s character; his shady dealings with Freddie Mac, his lobbying career, and try to remind people that the last time Gingrich was in the spotlight he became one of the most unpopular figures in America. These attacks seemed to work a month ago. 3) Conservative writers are going to unleash hell on Gingrich this week. They see him as an irresponsible figure who can permanently damage the conservative brand. And these writers have some indirect influence on the mainstream media.

Editorial: We’re turned Life into a game.

Via Scoop.itSecular Curated News & Views
When you treat life as a game you accept that there will be winners and losers which becomes the acceptable outcome. Let’s say we have a foot race with a million runners. How many runners can be awarded first place? What if there are only ten runners? It’s ok to have winners and losers in games as those who don’t win don’t suffer. Those runners who helped made it a race won’t starve because they didn’t win the race.   And anyway, how could 99% of the foot runners win if there’s only awards for first, second and third place? Are we to say the other runners didn’t try hard enough or we too lazy to win. The race itself, as a system, guarantees that 99% of the runners in the race will become losers. It’s part of the game. We shouldn’t make it a part of the system we use to rule our lives. Money of course is the means by which they demean our lives and turn it into a game. They can claim to have offered everyone the opportunity to win first place yet out of 250 million US Citizens trying to win first place how many people are actually gonna win first place? One.   Are we really satisfied with a system that sets up our society where 99% of our citizens are gonna lose? It’s guaranteed! It’s a vital part of the system. What’s really so pathetic about this system is it’s completely and totally unnecessary. We can all be winners if we simply stop acting like life is a game.   It’s treating life as a game that causes us to accept one child wearing a shirt that costs $100 while other children starve to death. Our God is a good God when it allows certain children to starve to death while allowing certain children to flourish. Our God[s] sound more like Charles Darwin’s survival of the fittest than any loving caring God[s]. The greatest aspect of man’s accomplishments is the overcoming of the limits of nature and providing more survival options for all. We need to fully embrace our natural desire to overcome the limits to survival and more beyond the God of scarcity and into the science of abundance for all. We have the means, all we need now is the will.   L8R.
